Domestic Violence in the Church

The Church of Christ Wembley Downs has expressed abhorrence of domestic violence in the community and has from time to time campaigned to raise awareness. As the spotlight falls this week on different expressions of the Australian church, this church’s leaders say there is absolutely no defence – theologically, pastorally, or biblically – for its support or perpetuation. We call to account its perpetrators and offer support and nurture to its victims and survivors.

A parish of 2000 students

Our local high school has access to two school chaplains throughout the week. YouthCARE chaplains Andrew Winton and Susan Sydney-Smith are in high demand by students, parents and staff as they provide, first, a listening ear and then, if needed, care by provision of information, referral or practical help. Local churches come together to raise financial support for this service. Susan Sydney-Smith is guest speaker at the Church of Christ Wembley Downs this Sunday, November 23, at 9.30 am.

2013 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,400 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 57 trips to carry that many people.

Coming Together

CCWD & UCAWD combined serviceThe Church of Christ and Uniting Church at Wembley Downs almost consider themselves twins. Every time there’s a fifth Sunday in the month they join for worship and communion. Here’s part of the happy crowd from this morning’s celebration.

Service Recordings

Can’t make it to our services?  You can now listen to ‘almost’ complete Sunday Services from our ‘In Absentia’ page. Each week, technology permitting, we will post a recording of our latest service, and keep an archive of old services for a period of time.  We would welcome your feedback on this new offering.
